Marvin Blakely Valentine has spent the majority of his life on the job site. As an infant, he watched his father build his childhood home in Batesburg, South Carolina. The beautiful custom build was a log cabin made from cedar logs found on the banks of the Edisto river. For Marvin, this home was the very beginning of a lifelong passion for custom residential construction.
From the time he could count, he was on the job counting material orders, staying close by his father's side in any capacity he could. He loved the process and intricacies of building a home just as much as his father did. As a young man, he labored on his father's job sites learning trades and skills such as carpentry and masonry. He worked in every phase of the build from digging footers to framing, roofing, and trimming the homes.
By the age of 25, Marvin Valentine was a jack-of-all trades, there was not a single aspect of residential construction that he had not had his hands in. As he ventured out on his own, he continued to hone his skills, working for other builders and tradesman, each of his experiences adding to his expertise in residential construction. He gained his Bachelors Degree in Industrial Mathematics from the University of South Carolina - Aiken, an accomplishment which he believes added tremendous value to his capabilities both on the job site and in the office.
In 2013 at the age of 28, Marvin fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening his own Construction Company. He started with small remodels and renovations, then signed his company's first new construction home in 2014. Since that time, he has built more than 100 houses in South Carolina and Georgia. He takes great pride in the products he creates and finds satisfaction in seeing his customer's dreams brought to life.
Outside of work, Marvin is a dedicated father and loving husband. He and his wife have four children, and a golden retriever. He enjoys boating and water sports, plays guitar, and is a deeply religious man. He values the insights and guidance that his knowledgeable father provides in every aspect of his life. He hopes that his children find a profession they can be equally as passionate about, in residential construction or otherwise.

Marvin Blakely Valentine took his first name, Marvin, from his father Marvin Lin Valentine. His middle name, Blakely, comes from his maternal Great Grandfather's sur name or "Family Name." His name was John Blakely. As a child, to differentiate himself from his father, he went by his middle name. Once he began his professional career as a builder he transitioned to using his legal first name as it appears on his builder's license and degree. The name "Blakely" has become a term of endearment for Marvin, as those who have known him longest refer to him as Blakely still. To us, the name Blakely is a name that symbolizes family and relationships. These are the values that our company is built on.
When you build a home with Blakely, you're working with dedicated professionals who understand the significance of a home to a family. Our table conversations at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, are nearly always centered on the homes we're working on. We take pride in the projects we complete, and we love to share the details with our children. Just like their father when he was young, our children love to visit the job sites, check out the blue prints, and admire the customer selections for every home. At Blakely, we are grateful to have an abundance of knowledgeable and experienced family members who have built a life around custom residential construction and have chosen to be a part of our team.
